TetschenThis painter had a better sense for
proportions and made sure that the railroad track was a decorative part of
the frame. The "stump" in the foreground may symbolize the Saxon border,
actually much further downstream. The painter shows all important
buildings of Tetschen, from St. Wenzel & Blasius on the left, to the
castle on the right. No chain bridge, so before 1855. The steamer on the
river flies an oversized black, red and gold flag -- the student movement
for national unity-- which became the German colors in 1918.
